RAY of Sunshine

RAY is a good boy...

RAY is a desktop pet I created for DUSK Local.

I've been incrementally working on converting my AI lighting tool DUSK into an offline focused harness that you can run with local models directly from your PC or Laptop. So far, the basic core functions are working, and I'm currently refining its in-painting tools.

However, now the tool no longer relies on big cloud-based models, the generations are a bit slower to produce. Whilst this is no doubt down to the age of my own machine (my laptop's Nvidia RTX3070 has served me well), I felt a progress indicator was now more vital than ever.

Cue RAY.

Similar to Open AI's own pet for CODEX, RAY sits on your desktop and provides real-time progress on image generations, announcing when each task has completed. This allows you to minimise the tool and focus on other tasks whilst they are being produced. This is especially useful now that I have implemented Batch Generations. Now a user can select from 1, 2 or 4 image outputs per run.

Some Additional Improvements

- Percentage progress shown on the main window screen.
- Better quality external generations with greatly improved skies & lighting effects.
- DUSK Local can now analyse and detect if your image is external or internal, presenting you with relevant presets.
- Sector detection is working, but could be improved.

Currently this is all run using a Flux 2 Klein 4B model, with a VAE encoder and a Qwen 3 4B Text encoder.

I still have some way to go, but its developing into something both feasible & useable.

In the meantime, DUSK GPT is still publicly available to use as a ChatGPT agent. You can find it by searching for DUSK in the agent store, or clicking here.
